The leaves are turning orange and the weather is turning cooler, which means one thing – Autumn is here (can you believe it?). We are ready to snuggle up indoors with all the cosy comforts the new season brings. There is plenty to do at The Falcondale and in the surrounding areas, so take a look at this blog for inspiration during your stay.
Things to do in Ceredigion and attractions in Mid Wales
To keep you entertained, we have put together a short list of things to do nearby to the hotel and in the surrounding area of Mid Wales.
Dog-friendly beaches in West Wales
Now that Summer is coming to end, we are pleased to see the return of our dog-friendly beaches – of which there are many just a short drive from our hotel where you can stay with your four legged friends.
Here’s a short list of some of our favourite beaches, but there are plenty more:
- Mwnt – A sandy and secluded bay managed by the National Trust. Dogs are welcome from 1 October to 31 March.
- Poppit Sands – A beautiful sandy beach backed with sand dunes. Dogs are welcome from October – April.
- Tresaith – A popular spot for swimming, water sports and beach games – although you may not see much of this as the colder weather draws in. Dogs are welcome from October – April.
At our dog-friendly hotel, we have everything you need to ensure your pet has a comfortable stay – we believe dogs deserve luxury too! This includes a doggy welcome pack, 14 acres of land to enjoy, blankets, towels and throws, leads, treats and more. We even have a facilities to give your pup a quick shower and clean up those sandy paws after a trip to the seaside.
We’re open to the number and size of dogs in your room, please just let us know your requirements when you book.
Welsh Quilt Centre
Discover a small haven of Welsh heritage at The Welsh Quilt Centre, located in Lampeter and just a 5-minute drive from the hotel.
The Centre celebrates the ancient art of the Welsh quilt alongside beautiful blankets and textiles from local and international artists.
Here you will also find exhibitions and embroidery workshops, differing depending on when you visit.
Lampeter Museum
Also, a short drive from the hotel is the Lampeter Museum, located in our town centre. It is found within the Old Porter’s Lodge of the University of Wales, Trinity St. David, Lampeter Campus.
Explore Lampeter’s cultural and agricultural history that shaped the town it is today, and learn more about the College itself.
Amgueddfa Ceredigion Museum
If you fancy a drive to the coastal town of Aberystwyth, why not pay a visit to Ceredigion Museum?
The history begins before stepping inside, with the museum housed in a wonderful Edwardian theatre. Inside you will find a plethora of culture and art that depicts Ceredigion’s heritage through a mixture of displays.
Magic of Life Butterfly House
If you have children with you, The Magic of Life Butterfly House is definitely worth visiting.
This amazing tropical house is about an hour’s drive from the hotel but makes for a wonderful afternoon.
You can see some of the biggest and most colourful free-flying butterflies, usually found in rainforests from across the world. As well as giant insects, fish and corals. Please bear in mind that this attraction is closed from 30th November.
Visit one of the best restaurants in Mid Wales
If you’re celebrating a special occasion or just feel like treating yourselves, why not visit our restaurant?
Tuck into one of our Falcondale Favourites, including classic Welsh rarebit or our parmesan linguine. Or if you’re looking for finer dining you can always opt for our A la Carte Menu.
If you are joining us on selected Fridays, you can reserve a table at our Steak and Wine Evenings. For just £28.50 per person, you can have an 8oz Sirloin steak with hand-cut chips, tomato and mushrooms with a 125ml glass of white and red wine.
