Story

Myself and now husband Rob, met 7 years ago in 2010 – he was our local postman. Rob proposed whilst we were travelling in Thailand, a ring placed in a heart shape made from palm leaves on a secluded beach.

“Enjoy every moment – it is certainly the most magical day of your lives!

The Venue

We spent a long time researching and visiting local wedding venues, non of which really had the wow factor! We came across the Falcondale online and decided to visit for afternoon tea. As we drove up the long county road in front of the Falcondale I was immediately impressed, the picturesque building in beautiful country surroundings. Whilst visiting all the staff were attentive and welcoming. When we were introduced to Caroline (the wedding co-ordinator within The Falcondale) who was fantastic, unbelievably attentive and able to accommodate any of our requests. The Falcondale was also a perfect option as we were able to book the whole establishment to ensure we were the only ones there.

The Food

We received the wedding breakfast options within the brochure – we were able to change these to suit our taste! We chose belly pork and fishcake starters, chicken and beef mains, sticky toffee pudding and we created a trio of chocolate desert. Our food was beautiful! All our guests complemented how wonderful the food was! All served with precision and accuracy on the day – there were no mistakes (very impressive considering the size of the wedding party). All staff were very professional and happy to help with any guest enquiries.

The Dress

Dress shopping was a magical experience. I had previously chosen pictures of designs I liked and wanted to try. Whilst in the bridal store non of these dresses were ‘the one’. I visited a bridal store in Liverpool and looked around and did not like any of the dresses within the store. My mother in law insisted I tried on some dresses in order to not appear rude, reluctantly I tried on a dress. When I put the dress on although it was everything I had said I did not want – it was perfect! Certainly ‘the one’, myself and bridal party cried! Totally magical!

The Decorations

The theme of our wedding was a traditional/vintage theme.  We achieved this ourselves with a lot of time and crafts, and piles of hessian and lace. We decorated used jam jars and put flowers all around our venue! Simple and yet looked beautiful. Our centre pieces were again created at home, we used hessian table runners, log slices and white vases (each unique bought from charity shops) and huge bouquet of flowers. We also used a wonderful company – ‘pretty seats and bows’ who decorated the chairs with hessian and lace, all of our guests said how lovely it all looked.

The Flowers

We used a local florist – Cascade! Nicola was absolutely fabulous and able to meet all of our needs. She was there to offer advice and accommodate our requests. The flowers looked beautiful on the day – exactly what we asked for! In fact the pictures we had given to Nicola as a guide were exactly what we got!

The Photographer

Our photographer was Lucy Gittins – Local to Aberystwyth! Again a wonderful choice. Several meetings prior to our wedding to ensure she knew exactly what we wanted! She was there throughout the wedding preparations, ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening. The photos of our day are beautiful and will be treasured forever.
