When John Battersby Harford spirited his new bride, Mary von Bunsen, daughter of the Prussian Ambassador to the Court of St James, off on a Grand Tour of Europe for their honeymoon, little did he know that this romantic journey would leave such a lasting impression on a pretty corner of West Wales.
His bride fell in love with Italy on their honeymoon and, in honour of the magical time they had spent together, he commissioned the architect, Talbot-Bury, to create a grand mansion on the Falcondale Lands, in the Italianate-style, to remind her of her honeymoon.
This year, we celebrate their legacy with Falcondale’s “Italian Summer”, think Aperol Spritz on the terrace, sharing platters of Anti-pasti, hearty pasta’s and great value – a sense of fun, community and laughter.
Look out of our Special Offers throughout the summer.
