Few places are as stunning and picturesque to say your vows as a country house wedding venue. These are elegant, historic buildings with plenty of open space and maintained gardens for guests to mingle. Best of all, a country house can be exclusively booked to host your wedding and house your inner circle of guests for the night.

The Falcondale is a Grade II listed, luxury Welsh hotel that once served as a countryside manor house from the 1600s until 1951. Our Italianate-styled Victorian manor is situated in the beautiful Teifi valley which features tranquil woodlands and well-kept gardens. With our dedicated wedding coordinator Hannah we have been lucky enough to host lots of beautiful weddings over the years. Read on and discover our recommendations to plan the perfect country house wedding at the Falcondale.

Create Your Vision

It’s important to have the fine details mapped out before you make booking commitments. Creating your mood board is but one part of this process. Your first step is to define your budget and how much you want to spend on decorations, refreshments, and entertainment.

Think about how many guests you want to invite, who is going to be part of the bridal party, and if guests can bring a plus one. Would you want them to be able to stay overnight at the manor, or find their own accommodation? At our luxury Welsh hotel, we can provide 16 individually decorated rooms for up to 32 guests, with a traditional Welsh breakfast included.

Lastly, think about the theme you want. With a country house wedding, the garden and architecture already establish a major part of the aesthetics so it’s important to remember that sometimes ‘less is more’ when thinking about how you’d like to style your wedding.

Plan a Checklist

Once you’ve decided everything you want to have at your wedding, track what you need to organise on a checklist; from hiring the photographer to researching accommodation for additional guests and choosing your dream wedding dress Planning a manor wedding can really become hectic quickly and the checklist can be essential for keeping you on track and keeping you relaxed before your big day.

Timing is Everything

Spring and summer are the most popular seasons for a country house wedding, but there’s little reason to consider the “off-seasons” too. Autumn in the grounds of our luxury Welsh hotel blossoms in the warm glow of falling leaves and makes an amazing backdrop for your photos and brings gorgeous autumnal shades into your wedding theme.
